Zarona is a South African natural hair care brand founded in 2014 by Fedile Akinsete a natural hair enthusiast. As a naturalista Fedile struggled to find hair care products that were suitable for her coily hair and after the birth of her daughter, Fedile vowed never to expose her daughter’s hair to hair-relaxers and other harmful chemicals. This meant that she would have to personally care for their hair. Fedile then decided to put her MBA in Chemical Engineering to use by developing 100% natural, high quality products for African hair. She started out by selling her shea butters to friends and family. Then, once she identified a gap in the natural hair market, she began importing her formulations, and thus Zarona was born.

Zarona hair care products are specifically tailored for African hair, manufactured using oils and butters from throughout the African continent. We rely on traditional African hair care techniques and ingredients such as shea butter and coconut oil, while incorporating modern technology and innovation into hair care.
